Corn Elder

Corn Elder      Cornerback from Miami U

5’10” 187 lbs.

40yd dash:  4.55

Background:  This Nashville, TN native was a 2 star athlete in basketball and a 2x football state champion.  He played point guard and was given MVP honors his senior year in the state basketball tournament.  Corn was scouted as one of the nation’s top running backs in 2011 & 2012.  He totaled over 6300 yds. and scored 84 touchdowns.

College Career Totals:  158 tackles, 6 sacks, 11.5 TFL, 3 interceptions, 2 return TD and 27 pass deflections.

Pros:

  • textbook tackler
  • Capable to play press, bump n run & zone coverage
  • quick feet, good hips, recovery speed not an issue
  • evades blocks well & closes fast on ball carrier
  • athletic, uses basketball skills to box out defenders & shade the WR away from jump balls

Cons: Too small to play outside verse larger receivers.  Better matched to cover in slot position so this limits him to being a role style player.

Final note:

Corn Elder may be small in size but plays with a fearless manner.  He showed ability in blitz schemes to get after the QB and disrupt running plays.  He is a true NFL nickel back that can also contribute on special teams.  Draft scouts predict him landing in the 3rd to 5th round.
